Case Overview
Client: The Hernandez Family
Event: Private backyard family celebration
Role: On-site coffee cart and beverage catering
Location: The Hernandez family home, Lumberton, South Jersey
Format: Single-day private event service for approximately 100 guests
Setup: First service for the Paris Runway cart, wrapped for the occasion
Personalization: Family crest, Puerto Rican flag, cups created for the occasion, and a Puerto Rican-inspired menu developed for the event
In September 2026, the Paris Runway made its first appearance at a backyard celebration at the Hernandez family home in Lumberton, New Jersey. The cart displayed the family’s crest across its front panel, with a Puerto Rican flag mounted above the canopy.
Many of the guests were Puerto Rican. Coffee Malem founder Amro Fadel wanted the setup to feel specific to the family rather than like a standard cart brought in for the day.
Planning the Menu and Presentation
The Hernandez family had not chosen a menu in advance. For the menu, Coffee Malem researched Puerto Rican drinks and flavor combinations, then sourced coconut, passion fruit, and tamarind from Hispanic markets and suppliers.
Coffee Malem used those ideas and ingredients to develop the menu, then sent a draft to the family before printing. They approved it as presented.
The Cart Menu and Cups
A hand-illustrated Hernandez family crest became the main graphic on the Paris Runway. Coffee, bananas, and passion fruit framed the family name on the front panel, while the Puerto Rican flag remained visible above the canopy.

The two-sided menu was divided into Café y Especialidades and Refrescos y Coctelería. Coffee drinks appeared on one side, with fruit-based refreshers and alcohol-free options on the other.
The coffee selection included Café con Leche and a Coquito Latte with coconut, cinnamon and nutmeg. Guests could also order a No-jito de Parcha with mint and passion fruit or a Frappé de Coco y Tamarindo.
The menu also included specialty lattes, mint lemonade and an alcohol-free Sangría Boricua.
The family crest appeared on the cups as well as the cart.
Service Across the Afternoon and Evening
Service ran from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., covering the celebration from the afternoon into the evening. Fadel staffed the Paris Runway himself for the full eight hours, serving a gathering of about 100 guests.
Several guests told him that the drinks reminded them of flavors they knew from home.
Personalization in a Family Setting
The Hernandez event brought together several Coffee Malem capabilities in one setup: a custom cart presentation, an event-specific menu, coordinated cups and service planned around the guest count and schedule.
